Very common

Habitat

On dead and living wood from deciduous trees, favouring hazel. Often filling gaps between adjacent branches, giving the appearance of gluing them together.

Spores cylindrical, smooth (4.5-6) x (1.5-2) µm2. Basidia 4 spored. Hyphal system monomitic. Setae fusiform, thick walled, brown.

Notes

The fungus turns black in KOH.
